UAV? UFO? Boeing’s Eccentric Concept

•February 14, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I’m sure many of us have seen tons of concept designs. But this one in my opinion, is quite outrageous. This looks like a cross between two engineer’s triangles and a UFO. Apparently this is supposedly a Top Secret “black” project currently under development by the Department of Defense…an ultra-sophisticated unmanned surveillance aircraft that will someday replace the RA-4 Global Hawk”

Real World Physics! (still only an approximation)

Do you ever wonder why you never get to do ‘real’ physics in school? All that ”Neglect air resistance, imagine surface as smooth and frictionless..etc” mumbo jumbo, well here’s an example. Remember, this is still only a slight approximation of the real thing.

An object of mass m is given an initial downward velocity, V0 (read as ‘v not’) and falls under the influence of gravity. Assume the gravitational force is constant and the air resistance force is proportional to the velocity of the object. Determine the equation of motion.

Phew! that was easy

If we wanted the real thing we would just use  -½ρADv² instead of -bv.

Don’t you just love physics ♥ What a man that Newton was :)

Minurature Helicopters!

Everything is getting shrunk these days. From laptops to cellphones. Here is the world’s smallest helicopter .Its called the mesicopter. Its ultra small. Exactly how small?

You get the idea.

Researchers at Stanford are aiming to use this little thing to carry out atmospheric research here on earth and hopefully on mars, one day.

Here is a concept of what they would look like in our atmosphere. Check out their site here.

Abstruse Goose

I found this excellent webcomic dedicated to physicists/scientists/engineers and the likes. His comedic look at the world through the eyes of science cracks me up and sometimes even amazes me! Here are a few that I found to be either hilarious, food for thought or perhaps both? Whatever your take on it is just let me know in that comment box! You may view his strip at http://abstrusegoose.com

I think Theodore Roosevelt had a great quote on this but I don’t remember exactly how it is but I think it is “Small minds discuss people, average minds discuss events and great minds discuss ideas”

Suits that comic perfectly don’t you think?

My next favorite is “Witnessing for Science”. Haha this great little image speaks for itself. Maybe we should go around witnessing for science and bring people to the light? o.O

Blogging

Hello all I’m new to this blogging world and doubt I have much to share. But I believe I will simply just start sharing my thoughts and views on various subject matters (in which I believe bloggers do ;D ) So what am I about? I’m a busybody who can’t keep his focus on one thing for too long unless its a passion (sadly) so many things I wish I could be doing now but I waste my time away procrastinating on homework, watching youtube videos downloading anime, movies songs you name it. I don’t know if I have much (if anything at all?) to offer. Honestly I’d love to blog about intellectual/really kool things. I’ll try to make this a habit, sharing my thoughts with you guys but proper time management isn’t on my todo list haha. Since I’m new to this world I’d love to meet knew people. (after I finish critiquing these 10 speeches due in the near future)

A little about me, im a BSc in Aerospace Engineering Sopmore at Embry-Riddle. And am looking forward to completing this exciting degree :D Interested in aeroplanes, math. phyisics, want help with your homework or you just wanna chat garbage hit me up :D

I will be posting stuff of content soon so keep in check =]
